Welcome to the Vaya Health system of healthcare plans. Vaya Health manages Medicaid mental health, substance use and intellectual or developmental disability services for people who live and get their Medicaid cards in the North Carolina counties of Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey. We manage similar services for persons in these counties who are uninsured or under-insured. Our knowledgeable customer services staff will connect you with healthcare professionals who provide the services you may need.
At Vaya Health, we take the concept of “person-centeredness” very seriously. We place the person receiving services at the center of our efforts and focus on the total person to help him or her recognize personal interests, goals, needs and new ways of thinking about the future.
Vaya Health does not provide services directly. Instead, we contract with a variety of healthcare providers who serve people who receive Medicaid. We have worked closely with our network of providers to ensure that a wide range of services is available in western North Carolina.
If you currently need mental health, substance use or intellectual or developmental disability services, or if you need them in the future, call our Access to Services line (1-800-849-6127) for help finding a healthcare professional who can provide the necessary services.
