Un centro psiqui\u00e1trico 24 horas no es la \u00fanica opci\u00f3n de tratamiento para los ni\u00f1os con graves dificultades emocionales o de conducta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un nuevo centro en Asheville pretende mantener a las familias m\u00e1s unidas mientras se determina qu\u00e9 tipo de atenci\u00f3n es la mejor para el ni\u00f1o. El 27 de abril, profesionales sanitarios, socios y defensores celebraron la apertura de Eliada Assessment Center, gestionado por Eliada Homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El centro, apoyado por Vaya Health en colaboraci\u00f3n con Youth Villages, se considera un centro de tratamiento residencial psiqui\u00e1trico. Sin embargo, las estancias no duran m\u00e1s de 30 d\u00edas, ya que los profesionales proporcionan tratamiento y eval\u00faan las necesidades del ni\u00f1o. El centro, con nueve camas, atiende a chicos y chicas de 11 a 17 a\u00f1os de toda la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una serie de pruebas cognitivas, de aprendizaje o de funcionamiento adaptativo pueden determinar que una estancia m\u00e1s larga en un centro residencial es lo mejor para el ni\u00f1o. Sin embargo, la evaluaci\u00f3n puede determinar que un tratamiento local menos restrictivo es una mejor opci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un objetivo clave es mantener a los ni\u00f1os cerca de sus hogares y familias, dijo Brian Ingraham, Director General de Vaya. \"Las investigaciones demuestran que los j\u00f3venes -y sus familias- obtienen mejores resultados cuando reciben tratamiento cerca de sus comunidades de origen y en el entorno menos restrictivo posible\", afirm\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
