Vaya Health, Youth Villages Partner to Get At-Risk Children Connected to Services Faster

Vaya Health is working with community partners to strengthen the continuum of care for children and families involved with the child welfare system.

Through local Department of Social Services (DSS), eligible children can quickly receive a comprehensive behavioral health assessment. Participating counties’ DSSs will have a dedicated Youth Villages assessor in the office at least two days per week. These staff members will work directly with families facing a high-risk of DSS intervention.

Vaya’s SPA model has already improved DSS’s ability to serve families. With this on-site service, children are assessed—and connected to the right support—sooner.

“As a mental health provider, we know good treatment starts with a good assessment. We are excited to be partnering with Vaya and DSS to help play this important role. Assessments are a vital part of ensuring children and families get linked to the right treatment,” said Annie Smith, State Director at Youth Villages.

Single Point Assessments are now offered in Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Person, and Stokes counties and will soon be available in Franklin, Granville, and Vance counties. To learn more about each county’s involvement, please see the county-specific press releases below.
