Vaya Health’s Medicaid service array includes “in lieu of services.” These extra supports are not included in the North Carolina Medicaid State Plan but have been approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for use by Vaya as medically appropriate, cost-effective substitutions to State Plan services.
Vaya members have the right to refuse in lieu of services and request the original service instead. We offer the following in lieu of services for eligible Medicaid members:
Acute and Subacute Services provided in an Institute of Mental Disease
Assertive Community Treatment Team Step Down (ACT-SD)
Behavioral Health Crisis Risk Assessment and Intervention (BH-CAI)
Child Focused Assertive Community Treatment (Child ACT)
First-Episode Psychosis Assertive Community Treatment
