Peer Support Specialist Training

Vaya Health sunset its North Carolina Peer Support Specialist (PSS) training curriculum on Dec. 31, 2023.

The transition was prompted by the achievement of program objectives, projected approval of more Peer Support Specialist trainings based in the region Vaya serves, and the need to shift the organization’s community support focus to readiness for next year’s Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Tailored Plan launch.

Vaya Health initially introduced the PSS training program in 2015 to address the need for an affordable and accessible training option for prospective peer support specialists, becoming the first curriculum to be approved under the state’s revised guidelines. The organization remains committed to advocating for the value of peer support in promoting wellness and recovery.
