Vaya Health Tailored Plan – Vaya Total Care – will launch 2024

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has announced a new schedule for the launch of NC Medicaid Managed Care Behavioral Health and Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities Tailored Plans (Tailored Plans).

New Tailored Plan Implementation Schedule

NC Medicaid Direct PIHPs will launch on April 1, 2023, instead of December 1, 2022.

Tailored Care Management (TCM) will still launch on December 1, 2022.

The Member Choice Period for Tailored Plan members to choose a Primary Care Provider (PCP) and TCM provider will be extended. A new date will be announced by NCDHHS in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the Healthy Opportunities Program will launch in 2024.

For LME/MCO Members

Beneficiaries who are expected to receive care through a Tailored Plan will continue to receive behavioral health services and I/DD and TBI supports through their current LME/MCO. These beneficiaries will continue to get their physical health and pharmacy services through NC Medicaid Direct, just as they do today.
