FindHelp: A Tool to Connect to Local Resources

Vaya Health understands that people with behavioral health (BH) challenges and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) need more than just quality health care to thrive. Community-based programs can help bridge the gap—local resources can often meet the various non-medical needs of those we serve. For some, support may include housing or food assistance. For others, support may include help with transportation, work, or childcare.

With these needs in mind, Vaya recently added the online local resource search tool FindHelp (formerly Aunt Bertha). Anyone who visits our website can use FindHelp to connect to resources in their communities. The tool houses information on

-Food

-Housing

-Goods (baby supplies, clothing, etc.)

-Transportation

-Financial assistance

-Care support (foster care, daycare, etc.)

-Education/work

-Legal assistance

-Health services

NC residents can also visit NCCARE360 to get help finding the right health care service. Program and service details are updated regularly for both FindHelp and NCCARE360.

We know that not everyone in our communities has reliable access to the internet. Therefore, we also want to promote the longstanding public resource NC 211. The NC 211 call centers were established to help North Carolinians find services and support without online access. We view FindHelp as a companion tool to both NC 211 and NCCARE360.

By sharing this additional resource broadly within our communities, together we can continue to improve health outcomes for our members and families.
