Danielle Wittekind

Danielle Wittekind is an accomplished human resources executive with experience spanning both public and private sectors. As the Chief Human Resources Officer at Vaya Health, she oversees all human resources activities, including talent acquisition, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.

Wittekind’s current role marks her return to Vaya, having served as Assistant Human Resources Director in 2018. Prior to rejoining Vaya, she most recently served as Chief Administrative Officer for Haywood Electric Membership Corporation, providing strategic leadership to multiple departments, including human resources, customer service, and marketing and economic development.

In other previous roles, Wittekind led teams in local government and behavioral health services focusing on employee relations, recruitment and retention programs, policy development, regulatory compliance, benefits administration, and professional development. Her interest in locally focused organizations demonstrates a strategic commitment to developing and deploying an organization’s greatest assets, its employees, to better serve North Carolina communities.

Wittekind earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Human Resources, both from Western Carolina University. She holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a SPHR Senior Certified Professional (SPHR-SCP). She currently serves as President of the United Way of Haywood County and as a board member of the Southwestern Workforce Development Board.
