Vaya Health Achieves full NCQA Health Plan Accreditation

ASHEVILLE, NC – Vaya Health announced that the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded full health plan accreditation to Vaya Total Care, Vaya’s Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Tailored Plan. Vaya Total Care is offered in all 32 counties Vaya serves for eligible Medicaid beneficiaries with behavioral health, substance use, I/DD, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) needs.

This achievement reflects Vaya’s commitment to quality care, accountability, and continuous improvement in service to members across North Carolina. Vaya Health previously earned interim accreditation on Aug. 1, 2024.

NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates the quality of managed care plans, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, preferred provider organizations, new health plans, physician organizations, credentials verification organizations, disease management programs, and other health-related programs.

NCQA Health Plan Accreditation reviews a plan’s foundational structures, essential processes, and quality improvement practices. It ensures that organizations have systems to protect consumers, monitor performance, and support high-quality care delivery. Standards cover:

  • Quality Management and Improvement
  • Population Health Management
  • Network Management
  • Utilization Management
  • Credentialing and Recredentialing
  • Members’ Rights and Responsibilities
  • Member Experience
