Brian Ingraham

As President & CEO of Vaya Health, Brian Ingraham oversees all Vaya functions throughout our region and provides strategic leadership and direction for Vaya and for the organization’s employees.

Ingraham became CEO at Vaya in 2009. During his tenure, Vaya has grown from its roots as an area program to a public managed care organization under the 1915 (b)/(c) Medicaid Waiver, expanding nearly eightfold. Ingraham oversaw Vaya’s 2013 consolidation with Western Highlands Network and has proven instrumental in developing key linkages with other organizations throughout the region and state to pursue common goals for the benefit of the people and communities we serve.

Ingraham serves on the Statewide LME/MCO Provider Steering Committee on Standardization and the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Waiver Advisory Council. In 2015, Gov. Pat McCrory appointed Ingraham to the N.C. Mental Health and Substance Use Task Force, where he co-chaired the task force’s Subcommittee on Prescription Opioid Abuse, Heroin Resurgence and Special Topics.

Prior to coming to North Carolina, Ingraham worked for nearly two decades in public service positions in New York, including as Commissioner of Mental Health in Delaware County, Deputy Commissioner of Mental Health in Broome County and Executive Director of Fairview Recovery Services, a non-profit mental health/substance use recovery based organization. In 1996, Governor George Pataki appointed Ingraham to chair the New York State Advisory Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.

Ingraham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a master’s degree in social work from Maywood College.
